Amex Platinum Lounge Guide

What Lounges Does Amex platinum Get You Into and Can You Bring Guests?

The American Express Platinum Card comes with so many valuable perks and perhaps one of the most valuable is the Global Lounge Collection providing cardholders access to over 1,200 airport lounges worldwide. This Amex Platinum Lounge Guide includes an overview of the Amex Global Lounge Network, the guest policy for each type of lounge and anything else you need to know in order to access the lounges. Also if you’re traveling with children don’t forget to look at whether the lounge has an age requirement. The American Express website has a page where you can search for a lounge by airport or city.
NOTE: Authorized Users i.e. Green or Gold Card Additional Members are not eligible for this benefit.

American Express Airport Lounges

There are also more than a dozen other Centurion Clubs and American Express Lounges, with the same access rules as the Centurion Lounges.

Guest policy: Minimum one complimentary guest, but many allow two per cardholder.

Lufthansa Lounges

Cardmembers departing Frankfurt and Munich with a confirmed seat on a same day Lufthansa Group flight (Lufthansa, SWISS and Austrian airlines) and boarding pass can access the Lufthansa Business and Senator lounges. Centurion Card holders are allowed to use the Lufthansa First Class Lounges regardless of their travel class.

Guest Policy: Certain locations will allow guests for a fee.

Delta SkyClubs

Amex Platinum cardholders may access Delta Skyclubs when traveling same day on a Delta marketed or operated flight. Note that the access offered by the Platinum Card does not include access to Delta SkyClub partner lounges. A few weeks ago I visited the KLM lounge in Amsterdam and while I was allowed in for free because I have Delta Medallion status, my friend with a Platinum Card was not eligible because it’s not an actual Delta Skyclub.

Guest Policy:

Cardmembers may bring in 2 additional guests for a fee of $29 each, so long as the guest is also traveling on an eligible flight.

Airspace lounges

To enter, just show your valid Platinum Card and valid ID.

Guest Policy: You can bring your spouse and children under the age of 21 or up to two (2) companions as complimentary guests. To bring any additional guests fees vary by location.

Guide: Best Way to Book JetBlue Mint

Escape lounges

To enter, show your valid Platinum Card, government issued I.D. and same day boarding pass.

Guest Policy:

You can bring two (2) guests with you at no additional cost.

Plaza Premium Lounges

Although many of the Premium Plaza’s lounges are also available with Priority Pass, there are exceptions such as the Plaza Premium Lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 5 where Platinum will get you in but PP won’t. There are Plaza Premium lounges available at more than 40 international airports.

Guest Policy:

Platinum Card holders may also invite two guests for free.
